Ok, so one of my favorite things to do in the fall is go apple picking. But there is a reason I like to go apple picking. It just so happens that the orchard we visit has THE BEST APPLE CIDER DONUTS! So good, that if you buy a dozen they barely make it home. In some cases they barely make it to the car!!😂😜
So I was thinking……I can’t make 20 trips to the Orchard for donuts! My wallet would agree! Buuuuut I can make my own! Yummy, light, sweet cake-y donuts. I just love these, because they are super easy to make and they aren’t fried, so they are a tad bit healthier.
You guys are gonna love these! I’m sure they will be a big hit with the kids too…..mine devoured them! 😆
Ingredients for donuts:
2 cups flour
3/4 cup sugar
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp apple pie spice
1 tsp salt
1/2 cup apple cider
1/4 cup milk
1 tsp vanilla
1 tbsp melted butter
**To make your own apple pie spice….mix 3 tbsp cinnamon, 2 tsp allspice, 1 tsp nutmeg. Store the extra you have in a container in a dry place**
Directions for donuts:
Preheat oven to 325° and grease a donut pan.
In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking powder, apple pie spice and salt.
Next stir in cider, milk, eggs, vanilla and melted butter. Beat until well blended.
Fill donut cups 1/2 way (the batter will rise while baking so you don’t want to over fill them.)
Bake for about 10 minutes or until donuts spring back when touched.
Allow donuts to cool in pan for 3 minutes before removing them.
Ingredients for cinnamon sugar coating:
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup white sugar
1 tbsp cinnamon
2 tbsp melted butter
Directions for coating donuts:
Mix sugars and cinnamon in a small bowl.
Brush donuts with butter and then toss the donuts in the sugar mixture until well coated.
I’m sure your mouth is watering by now…….go have one! I won’t tell! 😉
